We watched 11 years of tape.
378,000 plays, fingerprinted per head coach: who he feeds, how fast he plays, whether your guy's role has ever actually paid off. Then we mapped it onto the players he inherits, with today's prices as context.
How every NFL offense feeds fantasy
Up = the coach rides his stars. Down = he spreads it around. Left = opportunity flows through the backfield. Right = it flows through the pass catchers. Bigger bubble = more plays per game, and the badge is who specifically eats. Click a coach for his full card.

why this isn't just "he had good players"
We never grade players. We grade how the coach slices up the ball. Every game somebody is the lead back, somebody is the top target - we measure how big each guy's slice is, whoever he is that week. If the starter gets hurt, the backup inherits the seat and the slice stays about the same, because the slice is the coach's habit, not the player's talent. A great player can make his slice look good. He can't make it bigger. And we don't call anything a habit until a coach has done it for at least two seasons.
🚚 New coach, new offense
Ten teams changed coaches. For the ones who've run an offense before - as head coach or as the coordinator calling the plays - the record has opinions about their new roster. Six seats per card:
Shares are per-game medians: when a starter gets hurt, the name in the seat changes - the seat's number doesn't. It is about the position under the coach, never one player.

RB1 = his lead back's share of the backfield in a typical game (per-game median, so an injured starter doesn't fake a committee). WR1/WR2/TE = that role's slice of the targets, same per-game basis. The tick on each bar is the league norm. No alignment data in the tape, so "WR2" means the second-most-targeted receiver, not the slot.
How the verdicts work, in full
For each coach-season we measure his usage of each seat: RB1/RB2 by share of the backfield's carries, WR1/WR2/WR3/TE1 by share of the team's targets, QB1 by pass rate over expectation and plays per game. Those usage shares are measured per game and taken as the median, so injuries move the name, not the number. A coach controls who gets the ball; he doesn't control talent or injuries, so usage is what the verdict grades - not who finished where. Each seat's share is converted to a projected volume (the share x the coach's own pace and run/pass split) and compared to the league norm volume for the same seat: TAKE when he feeds the seat well above the norm, FADE when he starves it. No verdict without two seasons in the role ("no read"); under four seasons it's marked lean. First-time head coaches who called plays as coordinators are fingerprinted on those seasons instead. Seats are ordered by draft-board consensus from FantasyFootballCalculator, so the verdict lands on whoever the market expects to hold the seat, not on a single name. Data: nflverse play-by-play + player stats, 2015-2025.
